What is Squirrels?
Squirrels is a brand new way for the youngest members of our community to get involved in Scouting. There are plenty of reasons to get stuck in, as Squirrels gives young people the chance to:
- Make new friends
- Have fun outdoors
- Try new things
- Earn badges through fun activities
Squirrels is opening gradually across our area, so it might not be running in your community just yet – but you can still register your interest today, and we’ll be in touch as soon as a group is ready near you.

Will you be our next Squirrels volunteer?
Volunteering isn’t just about giving something back – it works both ways. Every activity we run depends on brilliant volunteers, and getting involved is a great way to try new things, meet new people, and make a real difference. Here’s what you’ll get out of it:
- Do something good for your community, and for yourself
- Pick up skills you’ll use for life
- Spend time with your own children, or gain experience with young people
- Make new friends
- Make memories you’ll look back on for years
Helping out keeps you active in body and mind, while making a genuine difference to young people as they learn skills for life and discover more about themselves along the way. Whether you can commit regularly or just help out now and then, we’ll find a role that fits around you.

Keeping Squirrels safe
Parents and new leaders can find out how our leaders keep young people safe in Squirrels.
Moving up to Beavers
Eventually, it’ll be time to say goodbye to Squirrels and get ready for the next big adventure.
